Today is my 2nd attempt to return home from San Francisco. Yesterday my flight was delayed 2 hours. Which meant I would miss my connection in Las Vegas. Now, while I'd rather been stuck in Vegas than San Francisco (It's Vegas, baby!), I wouldn't have a place to stay like I do here.
After much arguing and angling, I resolved myself to staying here and maybe working an extra day. The next flight they could get me on was the exact same red-eye, only a day later. Now, I think I did learn something about USAir... #1 they don't look at other airlines unless asked. #2 they don't look at alternative cities unless asked. #3 they don't play nicely with Southwest. #4 they told me the next flight available was Saturday (tomorrow) until I pounded my fist.
Needless to say I know it's a holiday weekend and there could be worse places to be stuck than SF, but I think it's a sad reality we're looking at when airline customer service has become so pathetic they've stopped even trying. I've been travelling professionally for almost ten years. I remember a time when I'd get a phone call that I'd already been rebooked on the next flight and upgraded to first for the inconvenience.
See you in Tampa, I hope.
After six and a half years, Ainsley has earned her 3rd-Degree blackbelt. The following is a video of the several hours of testing that she went through. Ainsley worked hard for this achievement, not just the past two months, but the several years leading up to it. We're very proud of her. And just for fun, here's a picture of Ainsley when she got her orange belt - about 6 months after starting taekwondo.
